After 3 years it finally happened…

After 3 years of extremely heavy use the ‘Mother of All Grill Covers’ has started to give way…

What made this grill cover so damn awesome???  Find out here.

Was it worth the money??? Well…

Considering that…

  • It has been through three of the most erratic summers and winters – we’re talking much more wild fluctuations between hot and cold, rainy and snowy, dry and wet — I’ve seen in the thirteen years I’ve lived in northern Virginia
  • It gets VERY heavy use – I’ve used the handles to pull it off and put it on my grill cart hundreds of times during the past three years
  • And, it gets slightly abused temperature wise (I’ll often put it back on while my Big Green Egg is still a good bit warm to the touch… which subjects the cover materials to even more expansion/contraction temperature abuse than normal)…

…yes, I definitely think it’s worth the dough.

Here are a few shots of the ‘seam failure’ that has occured after three years of very heavy use:

So, there you have it – a three year follow-up on The Mother of All Grill Covers.

It remains one of the toughest, longest lasting covers I’ve come across in well over 25 years of grilling.

And, at ~$49 (for the XXL) – which, in my particular case, has amounted to about $15 a year for some of the best grill protection I’ve found yet – you can bet your sweet Aunt Fanny that I’ll be replacing it with another cover of the exact same type.
